Welcome and Thank You!
Though a short month, February has been extremely busy but a lot of fun! First of all, a huge welcome to all of our new members. You may remember that we started 2018 with 534 of us. At the end of February, the WIH family is nearly 700 strong (697 to be exact) – that is fantastic growth. Please continue to share the news about this forum in your circles and beyond and we thank you for embracing and supporting this initiative.
Our live streams that started in late January are well and truly underway. They run every Thursday between 7-8pm, have generated some lively discussions and numbers are growing each week. Here are some of the topics that have featured so far:
- Issues Facing Women in Healthcare
- Personal Development and Career Prospects
- Travel Tips and Work-Life Balance
- Social Life as a WIH
- Managing Your Finances
Be sure to join us in March and be on the lookout as we may reach out to any of you to speak at the streams!
On February 10th, we were honoured to support the One Million Pads High Tea held in Telford and hosted by WIH member Maureen Mbondiah Mandipaza. Please contact us by email below to see how you can help the movement to achieve its goal of collecting one million sanitary pads to distribute to girls and women in need.
International Women’s Day
We have been busy preparing for our celebration of International Women’s Day taking place on Thursday 8th March at Weetwood Hall, Leeds. A truly inspirational panel of WIH including representatives from the Royal College of Nursing, will speak on the theme ‘Empowering Women in Healthcare’. The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Jane Dawson, will also be in attendance. We are also grateful to Skipton Finance for their sponsorship. Please go to our Facebook page for more details: https://www.facebook.com/events/234479483762621/
Weetwood Hall has also kindly donated a free tea – with all the trimmings – as one of several prizes to be won on the day. This week’s live stream on Thursday 1 March will feature a Ten Ticket Raffle where 10 tickets for the celebration are up for grabs! So there’s a good reason to join in this week…
